Gardena Jackpots or Jackpots: Played similarly to standard five
card draw; Gardena Jackpots differs in that it uses a single joker as
a bug and uses only antes with no blinds. A bug is a limited wildcard
which can be used as an ace, or to complete a straight, flush, or straight
flush. In order to start a round of betting, a hand of a pair of jacks
or better is required. If no one possesses such a hand, the cards are
re-dealt, and another ante is added to the original pot.
California Lowball: California lowball is always played with blinds rather
than antes. It uses ace to five low hand values. If a player checks a
7 or better hand, they forfeit automatically.
California High-Low Split: Played with a bug and ace to five low hand
values; with an 8 or better hand required to win low. This game is played
with a split pot, meaning both a high and low hand can win simultaneously,
with the pot being divided evenly between both. If there is no low hand
winner, the entire pot goes to the high hand winner. A hand that wins
both high and low, takes the entire pot; and is known as scooping or hogging
the pot.
Johnson: Played with antes and a bug; plays like a normal game of five
card stud if anyone opens during the first round. However, if no one opens
during the first round, the game continues on like California Lowball.
