Specific Stud Poker Games

Razz: Almost exactly like Seven Card Stud, except that ace to five lowball values are used, and a bring in is almost always required. In Razz, the bring in is required of the player with the highest face-up card.

Eight or Better High Low Stud: The most common form of high-low split stud; played like Seven Card Stud, except the pot is split between high and low using ace to five lowball values. Just like Seven Card Stud, low card pays buy in, and highest ranking face-up cards start a betting round.

Mississippi Stud: In Mississippi Stud, two cards are dealt face up after the first betting round. This causes the game to have one less round than Seven Card Stud; and consequently, five face up cards at the end of a game vice four. Mississippi Stud is considered to have a better structure for no limit and pot limit games, and was created specifically for this reason.

Five Card Stud: In Five Card Stud, the first card dealt is face-down, and a second card is dealt face-up. Play is exactly like Seven Card Stud, except that all subsequently dealt cards are face-up, with a showdown occurring after the fourth betting round.

Chicago: Same as Seven Card Stud, except the pot is split with the player that has the highest ranking spade in the hole. Little Chicago is the same, but using the lowest spade.

Number Nine: In this variation of Seven Card Stud, nines are wildcards. However, two cards can be added together to make a nine. Aces are considered a one for purposes of addition, and any card used in this manner cannot be used again to make a hand.
